Michael Cox

Biography

Michael Cox is currently the second trombone of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and principal trombone of the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra. He has previously served as the principal of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Michael has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, and Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.

Michael has been a fellow of the New York Philharmonic Global Academy, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West. He was an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. His primary teachers include Toby Oft, Michael Mulcahy, Tim Higgins, and Douglas Wright. Michael is a proud 2012 graduate of Midwest Young Artists Conservatory.

Outside of the orchestra, Michael enjoys cooking, hiking, and playing chess.
