Biography

Originally from Houston, Texas, Joseph Brown holds degrees from Colburn School, University of Michigan, and Ithaca College.

Brown joined San Francisco Ballet Orchestra as second trumpet in December 2016. He performs frequently with San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera Orchestra. Additionally, he has worked with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, Sarasota Symphony, and Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He has played guest principal trumpet with Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

His summer engagements have included Tanglewood Music Center, Classical Tahoe Festival, Britt Festival, Pacific Music Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Britten Pears Arts, and Texas Music Festival.

Before moving to the Bay Area, Brown was a fellow at New World Symphony in Miami Beach for three years.

In his free time, Brown enjoys skiing, running, hiking, home brewing, and spending time with his wife, Erik, and their cat, Bailey.
