Q&A
What inspired you to keep dancing during the COVID-19 lockdown?
During the Covid-19 lockdown, dancing was my way to stay connected with my friends and fellow company members. Though Zoom and my parent's living room wasn't the most glamorous ballet studio, it gave me the ability to continue doing what I love, and even make new friends, despite the situation.
When you have downtime from productions, what do you do to relax?
As corny as it may sound, going to college while dancing has given me the ability to channel the extra energy and emotion that ballet can bring into something positive. It gives me something separate to focus on, that lets me relax and not think about ballet in my downtime.
What are some of your favorite roles or ballets you've danced while at SF Ballet?
I went into Magrittomania last minute, when my first cast got injured. It was simultaneously the most nerve-wracking, and yet, most rewarding experience I've had with the Ballet. I had an hour to prepare for opening night and was forced to trust that I was skilled enough to perform the ballet well. However, the sense of elation I had when I performed that night was one of the best feeling's I've had in my career.
