Katelyn Tan

Biography

Born and raised in San Francisco, Katelyn Tan began her musical studies at the age of 10. She completed her master’s at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2020 and has been a pianist for the San Francisco Ballet since 2018, playing classes for the school, as well as company classes and rehearsals. She is also currently a staff accompanist for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and in the past has been a pianist for companies including San Francisco Opera, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, San Francisco Girls Chorus, Smuin Ballet, and the American Conservatory Theatre. She performs regularly with her newly formed trio, Sixth Station Piano Trio, whose mission is to keep classical music accessible to the general public and to challenge the boundaries of what a classical piano trio can do. Their first three concerts, held at the Grace Cathedral, featured the music of Studio Ghibli, with each night selling out to audiences of over 800 people. When not at the piano, Katelyn also enjoys composing Lo-Fi beats and playing video games.
