All Abilities Welcome Here

San Francisco Ballet is committed to providing opportunities for guests of all abilities to discover the joy of ballet.

Due to COVID-19, all of SF Ballet’s in-person education programs are on pause. SF Ballet invites families, PreK-12 students, and educators to our online classroom! Dance-along videos, virtual storytime, printable activities, coloring sheets, and more to enjoy from the comfort of your home. For our limited virtual offerings, visit SF Ballet Classroom.

Sensory Friendly Dance Workshops provide a shush-free and shame-free environment for groups and families to experience a ballet performance and participate in a guided movement class that is specifically tailored to the sensory and behavioral needs of the individuals. SF Ballet’s Sensory Friendly Dance Workshop was created in partnership with Autism Fun Bay Area for individuals with autism or other disabilities and their families and care teams. Guests can also take photos with ballet dancers and learn more about ballet shoes and tutus at hands-on stations in the activity room.

Relaxed Dress Rehearsals

Members of the special needs community are invited to attend certain San Francisco Ballet dress rehearsals at the War Memorial Opera House. Watch from designated seating that is wheelchair accessible and in an encouraging and safe environment. Guests will observe parts of an actual onstage SF Ballet dress rehearsal and participate in fun pop-up stations to learn more about ballet and the dancers. For guests who don’t feel comfortable attending a full performance or need a quieter environment, these dress rehearsals provide the fun of watching a live ballet with the comfort of a break in the Quiet Room, as needed.
