PERFORMANCES FOR SCHOOL GROUPS
Introduce your students to the excitement of live dance and music by joining San Francisco Ballet for our 2023–2024 school-time performances for young audiences. These ballet performances captivate students’ imaginations with dazzling choreography, memorable music, spectacular sets, and costumes, and are a wonderful way to expose students to the transformative power of the performing arts
Nutcracker School-Time Performance Includes:
- Full-length 2-hour performance of Helgi Tomasson's Nutcracker performed by SF Ballet professional dancers and SF Ballet School students, accompanied by the SF Ballet Orchestra.
- A comprehensive digital Educator’s Guide with standards-based resources and context to help you and your students explore the story, characters, and art form through pre- and post-performance activities.
- A souvenir program book for each attendee that includes the story of Nutcracker and kids' activities.
2023–2024 SCHOOL-TIME PERFORMANCES FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES
Join San Francisco Ballet for a school-time performance of Nutcracker on December 14 and December 19, 2023.
PERFORMANCE: Helgi Tomasson’s Nutcracker
DATE: Thursday, December 14, and Tuesday, December 19, 2023
TIME: 11:00 am–1:00 pm
PERFORMANCE LENGTH: 2 hours (includes one 20-minute intermission).
WHERE: SF War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102. Schools are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Opera House.
RECOMMENDED GRADES: K-12*
PRICE FOR K-12 PUBLIC SCHOOL GROUPS
A limited number of seats are available at the deeply discounted price of $20 and are only available to K-12 school groups from Bay Area public schools; minimum 25 tickets per order. To request to purchase $20 tickets, please fill out the form below. Eligible school groups will be assigned seats in the Dress Circle level and above, based on availability. A limited number of ticket scholarships may also be available to Title I schools.
Due to the limited availability of tickets, submitting a ticket request does not guarantee that your school will receive tickets.
PRICE FOR OTHER GROUPS
Are you interested in bringing a group of students from a private school, homeschool, preschool, ballet academy, or other school not affiliated with a Bay Area public school district to a school-time performance of Nutcracker on Dec 14th or Dec 19th? Please do not fill out the ticket request form. Groups not affiliated with a public school district should contact Ticket Services at groups@sfballet.org or 415-865-2000 to inquire about discounted group ticket rates.
*Some restrictions apply. While supplies last. To ensure a wonderful experience for everyone, no children under age three, including babes in arms. Everyone entering the Opera House, regardless of age, must have a ticket, and children must occupy their own seats.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
CHOREOGRAPHER: Helgi Tomasson
COMPOSER: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Experience the magical winter wonderland of toy soldiers, King of the Mice, Sugar Plum Fairy, and so much more. This dazzling production is a kaleidoscope of over 150 dancers accompanied by the SF Ballet Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky’s beloved score.
GETTING HERE
The performance takes place at the historic SF War Memorial Opera House at 301 Van Ness Avenue. Public transportation via Muni and BART is convenient, and parking is available nearby. All school groups are responsible for their own transportation.
