Jennifer Stahl on Snowblind and Appassionata

Principal Dancer Jennifer Stahl on Inhabiting a Role

Principal Dancer Jennifer Stahl reflects on the challenges and satisfactions of being in a work as it is created, reminiscing on the excitement of the Unbound Festival of New Works. She discusses her approach to learning the role of Zeena in Snowblind, and she describes Appassionata and the language used by choreographer Benjamin Millepied to evoke the sweep of movement he desires. She is especially eloquent as she explains how she strives to inhabit a role, whether it is abstract or portrays a character.
