On Being a Trainee and Performing Character Roles
Ellen Rose Hummel describes her journey to SFB from training with Patricia McBride in North Carolina, to three years in SF Ballet School and as a Trainee. She offers insight into the life of the senior students and Trainees at their chaperoned living quarters, “Jackson House.” She discusses performing character roles, such as stepsister Edwina in Cinderella, in Val Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House, and the “girl with the red purse” in Robbins’ Fancy Free.
