Meet the Creative Duo Behind the Mere Mortals Visuals

When ideating the world premiere of Mere Mortals, Artistic Director Tamara Rojo did not take the traditional approach of creating a new work. Rather than place the vision in the hands of one creator, she knew she needed a team to match the enormity of her vision. When she enlisted a heavy-hitting creative team to bring the vision to life, Barcelona-based Hamill Industries played an integral role.

Hamill Industries is a creative studio partnership composed of artists Pablo Barquín and Anna Diaz. The duo specializes in developing innovation projects based on experimentation and mixing emerging and traditional techniques to create new formats of visual communication.

They carry out artistic and technological research in the field of visual arts, live performance, and the exploration of light, movement, and sound, all of which will be in play with the premiere of Mere Mortals this month. Since 2015, Hamill Industries has toured around the world with Floating Points, creating his visual universe and live visual experiences. They have presented their work at festivals and institutions such as SÓNAR Festival, ARS Electronica, 180 Strand (London), Semipermanent, Mira Festival, Cosmocaixa Museum, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Coachella and the Barbican Museum in London.
