A Trailblazing Legacy

A Trailblazing Legacy

Celebrating Helgi Tomasson

On February 1, 2022, San Francisco Ballet returned to the War Memorial Opera House for the opening night of the 2022 Season. From Cathy Marston’s sultry Mrs. Robinson to Helgi Tomasson’s lyrical Caprice, audiences left the Opera House feeling energized and ready to engage with the work on a deeper level. And while our 2022 Season is richly hued with modern, classical, and genre-bending work, one main thread runs through each piece. This season is a celebration. A celebration of our return to live performances, a celebration of ballet, and most of all a celebration of Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson in his final season with San Francisco Ballet. Join us for a look back at Tomasson’s trailblazing legacy through the eyes of his contemporaries and collaborators.
