Thamires Chuvas was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and trained at Ateliê da Dança, Escola Estadual de Dança Maria Olenewa, Companhia Jovem de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro, and San Francisco Ballet School, where she was in the Trainee Program. She was named an apprentice in 2014. Promoted to Corps de Ballet in 2015.
She has danced in Tomasson’s Giselle and Nutcracker (Snow and Flower); Balanchine’s Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet (3rd movement); Makarova’s (after Petipa) Kingdom of the Shades, Act II from La Bayadère; Robbins’ Glass Pieces; and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (as a cloak helper). As a San Francisco Ballet School Trainee, Chuvas danced Tomasson’s Bizet Pas de Deux and Simple Symphony, Maynard’s Among the Cypress and Fractals, and Thatcher’s Spectrum and Stone and Steel.
