Adult Ballet Workshop
Summer dance camp - for adults!
Summer dance camp - for adults!
Each day begins with a warm-up mat class/floor barre designed to get the blood flowing, and to tone and stretch muscles so that you’ll get most out of the full day of dancing ahead of you. A traditional ballet technique class will follow, taught by the same experts who train students at SF Ballet School.
After a catered lunch, you’ll bring out your inner artist in afternoon classes. Choose a track, either the Ballet Focus or World Dance. In the Ballet Focus track, participants will learn dances from SF Ballet’s story ballet repertoire, such as the character dances from Don Quixote, pantomime from Giselle, and corps de ballet work from Swan Lake. You’ll also have the opportunity to sign up for an optional beginning pointe class. In the World Dance track, you can expand your dance vocabulary by learning styles such as Bollywood, West African dance, and traditional Chinese ribbon dancing.
Wrap up each day learning the high-energy choreography of Val Caniparoli’s immensely popular Lambarena. Participants will learn choreography from the ballet and will work towards a studio performance at the end of this one-week workshop.
