Group FAQ

How many tickets am I required to purchase to qualify for a group discount?
During our Repertory Season, you need to purchase a minimum of 10 tickets and for Nutcracker, you need a minimum of 20 tickets. If you don't have the minimum, you can still purchase group tickets, but they will be full-priced.

Is there a group discount for all performances?
Most performances offer special group pricing. For performances without a discount, you'll still receive group benefits with the purchase of full-priced tickets. For more, visit Ticket Options.

Can we book a reception or plan an event on our performance date?
Yes! One popular option is a private reception, giving your group members the opportunity to mingle and network. Our Group Sales Representative can help you make your group’s evening a success. Let us know what we can do to make your night special!

What’s the best section in the War Memorial Opera House?
Choosing your seats is a matter of personal preference, as well as the price-point your group feels most comfortable with. Familiarize yourself with the seating charts for both Nutcracker and Repertory Season before booking your tickets.

Will we be seated together?
We make every effort to seat your group together. In some cases, in order to get you the very best seats, we will break your group into smaller blocks of seats. All group discounts and seating are subject to availability. Order early to secure the best seat locations.

How quickly can I start using the custom page for my EZ Group?
Custom Pages can take 5 to 7 business days to complete. Once your page is complete, you'll receive notification, you can forward the link to your group members, and they can start purchasing right away. View Sample EZ Group Page

How do I get my tickets?
We mail all Classic and EZ Groups tickets through the US Postal Service. Classic Group tickets are mailed after we’ve received final payment and EZ Group tickets are mailed after the minimum has been purchased.

Can I print my tickets at home?
Yes. Please visit sfballet.org and log in to your account. Ticket purchases can be found in the Tickets & Performances tab. Once you’ve downloaded the PDF, the original tickets mailed to you will be invalid.  Each subsequent download will invalidate the tickets you've previously printed.

Can I pick up my tickets at will-call?
We dissuade groups from picking up their tickets at will-call on the day of performance. If this is your only option, there are two windows just inside and to the left of the War Memorial Opera House’s main entrance. The group leader will need to contact the group sales representative well in advance to make will-call ticket arrangements.

Can I bring a group of children to the Opera House?
Nutcracker is most magical for children ages 5 and up and our Repertory season is suited for those ages 8 and up. Children under 4, including babes in arms, will not be admitted to the theater. All persons entering the Opera House, regardless of age, must have their own ticket and occupy a seat. Anyone of any age creating a disturbance will be asked to leave the auditorium. Consider choosing an aisle seat when bringing young children in case you need to make a quick exit for an unavoidable visit to the restroom, or for a restless child. Performances are often more than two hours long and are not always suitable for younger children.
