San Francisco Ballet joins New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival with the New York premiere of Akram Khan’s Dust. This powerful one-act ballet confronts the human cost of war, drawing on the haunting aftermath of World War I to illuminate resilience and memory through movement.

Carlos Miguel Prieto conducts the Hollywood Bowl’s annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks, made all the more dazzling with the dancers of San Francisco Ballet. Selections from Swan Lake, Symphony No. 3, Capriccio Italien, and the iconic 1812 Overture will be accompanied by the USC Marching Band and the Bowl’s signature fireworks display.

San Francisco Ballet’s touring history dates back to 1934, when we first established a dedicated booking department to share our work beyond the Bay Area. In 1940, we made national history with the American premiere of a full-length Swan Lake, a bold move that launched decades of celebrated tours both nationally and internationally. From landmark stages to unforgettable collaborations, explore our touring legacy.

Touring highlights
  • 1965 – New York City, NY – State Theater in Lincoln Center – Company’s NYC debut.
  • 1989 – Paris, France – Théâtre Champs-Elysées – SF Ballet’s Paris debut. The Company later returned to Paris to perform at the famous Opéra de Paris-Palais Garnier in 1994 and 2001.
  • 1990 – Reykjavik, Iceland – City Theatre – This Iceland debut marked a homecoming for former Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson.
  • 2001 – Santander and Barcelona, Spain – Santander’s Palacio de Festivales and Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu – SF Ballet’s Spain debut.
  • 2002 – London, England – Royal Opera House – The Company performs at London’s Royal Opera House for the first time.
  • 2009 – Shanghai and Beijing, China – Shanghai Grand Theatre and Beijing’s Poly Theatre – The Company makes its first trip to the People’s Republic of China, marking a grand homecoming for former Principal Dancer Yuan Yuan Tan.
  • 2012 – Moscow, Russia – Bolshoi Theater-New Stage – Company’s debut in Russia.
  • 2019 – London, England and Copenhagen, Denmark – London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre and Copenhagen’s Royal Danish Opera House.
  • 2024 – Madrid, Spain – Teatro Real – Company’s Madrid debut.
