BRING THE MAGIC AND ARTISTRY OF SF BALLET INTO YOUR CLASSROOM

Discover the transformative power of creativity through the arts! Introduce your students to the joy of dance, music, visual art, and film with San Francisco Ballet’s Digital Student Matinee presentation of COLORFORMS. This mesmerizing dance film will captivate students’ imaginations with dazzling choreography, dynamic music, inspiring artwork, and sweeping views of San Francisco.
The 2022 SF Ballet Digital Student Matinee experience for PK-12 schools includes:
- Exclusive access to the dance film COLORFORMS, performed by San Francisco Ballet and filmed at four San Francisco locations – SF Museum of Modern Art, Golden Gate Park, Yerba Buena Gardens, and SF War Memorial Opera House.
- Pre-screening and post-screening educational resources to enhance the dance film viewing experience.
- An opportunity to virtually go behind the scenes with the choreographer and ballet dancers to learn about the process of creating a dance film.
- A professional development workshop for PK-12 teachers.

RECOMMENDED AGES: For everyone age 4 and up, Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade
PRICE: Free for PK-12 teachers to show in a classroom or school environment. Pre-registration required.

COLORFORMS was filmed during San Francisco’s shelter in place mandate, inside the galleries of the SF Museum of Modern Art, outdoors at Golden Gate Park and Yerba Buena Gardens, and on stage at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House. HOW TO REGISTER
Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade classes are currently eligible to participate in the SF Ballet Digital Student Matinee experience for FREE. Teachers and school administrators are invited to submit the registration form to request access for up to 6 classrooms/teachers per form. Schools may submit multiple registration forms if more than 6 teachers/classrooms at your school would like to request access to the Digital Student Matinee.
If you are not from a PK-12 school or home school group, please visit the SF Ballet Online Classroom for other dance education resources or contact education@sfballet.org.
The SF Ballet Digital Student Matinee is intended for PK-12 students to experience within a classroom or school environment, and may not be shared for any individual or commercial purpose.
Due to COVID-19 health and safety measures, SF Ballet will not have any in-person Student Matinee performances in the SF War Memorial Opera House during the 2021-2022 school year.
NOTE: If you are an SFUSD teacher participating in SF Ballet’s DISC Residency Program this school year, then you do not need to submit this registration form. Your classroom is already pre-registered and you will receive additional information in March.

Professional Development Workshop for PK-12 teachers
Led by Jasmine Yep Huynh, SF Ballet Associate Director of Education, this professional development workshop will provide teachers with classroom activities and resources that spark deeper engagement with the dance film COLORFORMS. Explore how dance can help build narrative skills. See how Visual Thinking Strategies with movement can create inclusive discussions. And discover how paper airplanes, bubble gum, sketchbooks, and Golden Gate Park inspired the story of COLORFORMS.
