On Christmas Eve, 1944, the audience at San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House experienced the American premiere of Nutcracker. An instant sensation, the ballet launched a national holiday tradition.

San Francisco Ballet’s sparkling production of Nutcracker, set here in our own “City by the Bay,” has introduced audiences of all ages to the magnificent world of ballet. This holiday season, experience the beauty and athleticism of SF Ballet’s international cast of world-class dancers in Nutcracker, a San Francisco tradition since 1944.

Get out your iPad and interact with SF Ballet’s magical production through our new iPad application! Designed for children ages 6-10 and their families, the app allows users to experience SF Ballet’s production of Nutcracker through illustrations and storytelling, and learn about the world of classical dance and music. SF Ballet’s Nutcracker Under the Dome

This holiday season, visitors to Westfield San Francisco Centre’s historic Dome will see it transformed each evening into a state-of-the-art surround theater, with a free, six-minute animated 3D light spectacular, inspired by SF Ballet’s production of Nutcracker. The free show runs nightly every half hour from 5pm until mall closing at 9pm, now through Tue, Dec 31. Learn more.

 

 

Nutcracker is best enjoyed by children ages 5 and older. Out of courtesy to your fellow audience members, SF Ballet request no infants or toddlers, please. All persons, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter.
