2021 SEASON DONOR EVENTS

We are excited to host our 2021 Season of Donor Events in the safest and most thoughtful way possible for both our artists and our supportive donors. This means not only strict adherence to state and local health protocols but also remaining flexible and responsive to the ongoing needs and concerns of our patrons.

We are arduously working with our artists and vendors to create engaging stewardship events, either virtually or in person, whenever safe and possible. Please keep your eye on your inbox as we will be sending invitations to behind-the-scenes events whenever a new donor opportunity arises. While we have already calendared many events, please know that we will also remain nimble and eager to seize last-minute opportunities to grant our donors access to our artists! Noted below are just some of the events donors will enjoy during the Season:

SUNDAY, MAY 2 | 1 – 3 pm
Ballet Basics
Ticketed event. Donors are able to attend for a discounted rate; discount is applied in cart.
Ballet Basics is designed to give you all the information you need to better appreciate and enjoy SF Ballet. These 2-hour seminars will give participants a foundation in the history and practices of the art form. Watch a professional dancer take a ballet barre, hear from an artist, and learn about the history of classical ballet.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 5 | 6 –7:30 pm
Exploring Romeo and Juliet
Ticketed event. Donors are able to attend for a discounted rate; discount is applied in cart.
Become an expert yourself during intensive, one-day classes that bring you deeper into the selected work and let you hear from the dancers and artists themselves. Simon Morrison, music historian and author, will speak with SF Ballet Principal Dancers Mathilde Froustey and Joseph Walsh about Romeo and Juliet.

THURSDAY, MAY 6 | 5:30 – 6 pm
Opening Night Series, Romeo & Juliet
Exclusive for donors at the Sponsor’s Council+ levels and patrons who donated back their full subscription.
This event will be hosted as a Zoom webinar in the presentation-style format. During this event, guests will hear from artists of the Company for short interviews and Q&As.

THURSDAY, MAY 6 | 6 – 6:45 pm
Ballet Sponsor Night, Romeo & Juliet
Exclusive for donors at the Sponsor’s Council+ levels and the sponsors of Program 6.
This event will immediately follow the Opening Night Series and will be held as a separate Zoom event. During this event, donors and sponsors will have chance to meet and interact with our artists in more depth as this event will be smaller and in the Zoom meeting-style format.

MONDAY, MAY 10 - FRIDAY, MAY 14 | 7 pm
Le Petit Pre-Curtain Dinner
Exclusive for donors at the Choreographer’s Council+ levels.
Guests will be personally invited by Development Staff to attend intimate Zoom dinners with our artists in celebration of Helgi Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet. For inquiries, please reach out to your Development Staff contact or rsvp@sfballet.org.

TUESDAY, MAY 11 | 6 – 7:30 pm
Book Club: Romeo and Juliet
Ticketed event. Donors are able to attend for a discounted rate; discount is applied in cart.
Ever wanted an excuse to delve a little deeper into everyone’s favorite story ballets? Join SF Ballet’s Audience Engagement team for a chance to do exactly that and take a deep dive into the literature behind Romeo and Juliet.

THURSDAY, MAY 13 | 6 –7 pm
Ballet Chat Romeo & Juliet
Ticketed event. Donors are able to attend for a discounted rate; discount is applied in cart.
Join SF Join SF Ballet’s Audience Engagement staff to chat about what you just saw. This isn’t an artist interview and it’s not an expert telling you what to think. It’s a chance to have a glass of wine, mingle with fellow ballet fans, and participate in an informal moderated conversation.

SATURDAY, MAY 15 | 12 pm
Warehouse Event
Exclusive for donors at the Associate’s Council+ and BRAVO volunteers.
This is a two-part video series filmed at our warehouse where you will have the opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes insight from our wardrobe, hair, and make-up teams about costumes, wigs, make-up, accessories, and more used by SF Ballet in our Romeo & Juliet and Swan Lake productions. Donors will receive a link to view the video series from rsvp@sfballet.org.

SUNDAY, MAY 16 | 11 am
ADC 2022 Season Sneak Peek Event with Helgi Tomasson
Exclusive for donors at the Producer’s Council and above.
Get an exclusive peek into the 2022 Season from Helgi as he talks in-depth about his final Season as Artistic Director at San Francisco Ballet.

TUESDAY, MAY 18 | 6 –7:30 pm
Exploring Swan Lake
Ticketed event. Donors are able to attend for a discounted rate; discount is applied in cart.
Become an expert yourself during intensive, one-day classes that bring you deeper into the selected work and let you hear from the dancers and artists themselves. This event features Alastair Macaulay, critic and historian of the performing arts, former chief dance critic of The New York Times, along with SF Ballet Principal Dancer Jennifer Stahl and Soloist Julia Rowe.

Opening Night Series, Swan Lake
Exclusive for donors at the Sponsor’s Council+ levels and patrons who donated back their full subscription.
