Ikolo Griffin

Ikolo Griffin began his ballet training at the age of eight as a student in San Francisco Ballet School’s Dance in Schools program. He went on to become the first outreach student to join San Francisco Ballet, where he danced for seven years in works by Balanchine, Robbins, Tomasson, Possokhov, and Val Caniparoli, including the world-premiere cast of Caniparoli’s Lambarena. He performed as a soloist and principal with Dance Theatre of Harlem, and as a principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet and Smuin Ballet. His repertoire includes Prodigal Son, Apollo, Firebird, The Four Temperaments, Tarantella, Fancy Free, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Swan Lake, and Le Sacre du Printemps. He received the Princess Grace Award for Dance in 1993. Most recently, he was on faculty at Pacific Northwest Ballet School. He has also danced every role in The Nutcracker except Drosselmeyer, but there’s still time!
