Master Class: Dana Genshaft on Don Quixote

October 21, 2018

10 am–noon
Ages 15–19

For adults who have been regularly taking ballet classes for several years and are at the intermediate/advanced level.
Please bring ballet slippers, pointe shoes, and a long skirt.

1 pm–3 pm
Ages 20+

For adults who take ballet classes.
Please bring ballet slippers and fans.

With sparkling wit, exuberant characters, and show-stopping dancing, Don Quixote is the stylish rom-com of classical ballet—and an audience favorite.  SF Ballet School Faculty member and former SF Ballet Soloist Dana Genshaft will teach excerpts from this beloved classic.

Master Class: Patrick Armand & Karen Gabay on Audition Preparation

Master Class: Kristi DeCaminada on Nutcracker

For boys and girls currently training in ballet.
Please wear ballet slippers.

Each December, SF Ballet’s Nutcracker features dozens of children onstage, all students at SF Ballet School. You too can learn excerpts from the children’s roles of this magical ballet. Join SF Ballet School Faculty member Kristi DeCaminada, who coaches the children’s roles in Tomasson’s Nutcracker, to learn some of the most well-known choreography from our production in the SF Ballet studios.

Master Class: Tina LeBlanc and Jeff Lyons on The Sleeping Beauty

 The Sleeping Beauty is a dream of a ballet that highlights dancers’ classical virtuosity. SF Ballet Faculty member and former SF Ballet Principal Dancer Tina LeBlanc and SF Ballet School Faculty member Jeff Lyons will talk about performing this fairytale ballet and teach excerpts, including the popular garland dance.

NOT A DANCER? COME WATCH.

Watching a master class as a member of the audience offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the rigor and craft of dance instruction while also providing a deeper connection to the exhilarating art of ballet.

We can accommodate up to 75 observers at each Master Class.  

Please note: Observers must register in advance. Children eight through 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and children younger than eight years old are not allowed. Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the SF Ballet building.

Observer ticket: $25
