Under the auspices of the Ford Foundation, Cecelia began training in the Bay Area with Tricia Kaye, who trained under Willam Christensen. She later received training at School of American Ballet and graduated high school from the ballet program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Cecelia went on to earn a master’s degree in ballet at Indiana University and has taught at universities and private schools including Mills College, Indiana University, and her own studio in the Oakland Hills. Most recently, she received instructor training with the Dance for PD program—a dance program developed by Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group.
For over 10 years Cecelia coordinated SF Ballet’s Adult Education and Audience Engagement programs including the Pointes of View lecture series, Meet the Artist interviews, Visiting Scholar Program, and Ballet 101, 201, and 202.
