Family & Community Programs
Connecting through DANCE
San Francisco Ballet opens the world of dance to children, teens, families, and adult lifelong learners through programs that inspire imagination and creativity. Our events, programs, and partnerships are designed to connect community members with the art form, artists, and productions by bringing ballet beyond the stage.

Family Dance-Alongs
San Francisco Ballet offers Family Dance-Alongs and Sensory Friendly Dance-Alongs for Nutcracker and throughout the Season. Share the wonder of ballet with your family and experience the joy of dancing together. Led by San Francisco Ballet’s professional teaching artists and SF Ballet School faculty and pianists, these interactive 60-minute workshops invite families to explore the story, characters, choreography, and music of beloved story ballets. Hands-on activities and photo opportunities unlock the magic of ballet.

SF Ballet in the Community
San Francisco Ballet’s education and engagement programs offer communities a closer look at the craft of ballet. Our family-friendly workshops, interactive community programs, and inclusive classes make ballet accessible, playful, and inspiring. From ballet history lectures and chamber music concerts to intergenerational dance workshops and chair-dance classes, these public programs invites communities to connect with the art form and artists of SF Ballet.

Legion of Honor x SF Ballet
In collaboration with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco Ballet celebrates the Legion of Honor’s 100th anniversary with a dynamic series of programs. From lectures and performances to family workshops and a chamber music series, these experiences honor the intersection of dance, visual art, and history in one of the city’s most iconic spaces.

REPERTORY CLASSES with SF Ballet School
San Francisco Ballet School offers repertory classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults that open the studio doors to the community, inviting local ballet students to take a class with our world-class faculty and explore the Season’s repertory. From technique to audition preparation, these programs help young dancers grow alongside their peers while connecting with the wider ballet community.
