Ballet Book Club

Books and Ballet? I’m in.

Ever wondered about the literature behind the ballets? Or wanted an excuse to delve a little deeper into everyone’s favorite story ballets? Join SF Ballet’s Audience Engagement team for a chance to do exactly that and take a deep dive into the literature behind the ballet.

In this special edition of Ballet Book Club, SF Ballet’s staff and arts advocate Phil Chan will host a discussion of Chan’s recent book, Final Bow for Yellowface, which chronicles his journey navigating conversations around race, representation, and inclusion as raised by the Chinese variation in Nutcracker.

What’s in store?

  • Sign up and we’ll send you a Zoom link the morning of the event.
  • In advance, pick up a copy of Final Bow for Yellowface at yellowface.org or on Amazon and give it a read!
  • During the event, we’ll open the floor for thirty minutes of discussion with the class participants and SF Ballet staff.
  • After that, author Phil Chan will join to answer questions and share his thoughts.

Date: December 1

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: Online via Zoom

Cost: General Admission: $20 / Subscribers and Donors: $15

Classes go off sale at 10am the morning of the event and Zoom links will be sent shortly thereafter.
