Nutcracker Pre-Performance Information
Here's What You Need to Know to Plan Your Trip
We're looking forward to seeing you at Nutcracker! Here are some helpful tips for making the most of your experience!
San Francisco Ballet is regularly reviewing all aspects of the War Memorial Opera House experience to ensure that audiences, artists, and staff members are able to safely return to experience live, in-person performances by the Ballet with confidence. Health and safety are our priority, and we are working in consultation with medical and public health experts to closely follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of California, and the City and County of San Francisco.
Masks are required for everyone at all times, regardless of vaccination status, while inside the War Memorial Opera House.
Opera House Dining
Whether you're looking for a pre-performance meal, a festive glass of champagne at intermission, or a light snack, Global Gourmet Catering, the Opera House's exclusive food and beverage services provider has you covered.
The War Memorial Opera House is BARTable—the nearest BART station is conveniently located at Civic Center Station, a 10-minute walk from the Opera House.
We encourage you to take public transit, but the Opera House is close to several nearby parking garages.

Visit the Shop
Visit The Ballet Shop on the Mezzanine level of the Opera House pre-show and during intermission.
There are many interesting areas to take photos throughout the Opera House including the large columns in the main lobby, the loggia, and the beautiful chandelier in the auditorium. For Nutcracker, there are photo stations with holiday backgrounds on most levels.
