Curious about life behind the curtain at San Francisco Ballet? Ballet Basics is designed to give you all the information you need to better appreciate and enjoy a night at SF Ballet. These 3-hour seminars will give participants a foundation in the history and practices of the art form. Take a ballet class, hear from an artist, and learn about the history of classical ballet.

  • Learn about the history of ballet and San Francisco Ballet: where it’s been, where it is, and where it’s going
  • Participate in a basic ballet class: starting at the barre, learn the steps from which all ballet vocabulary is derived
  • Meet a dancer or other member of our Artistic Staff to learn about their lives, training, and careers
