SAN FRANCISCO BALLET FASHION SHOW RETURNS MARCH 18 WITH DESIGNS BY MAISON RABIH KAYROUZ

SAN FRANCISCO, February 3, 2020—San Francisco Ballet’s 2020 Auxiliary Fashion Show, its 41st fashion show since 1980, presents Parisian Haute Couture designer Rabih Kayrouz in his San Francisco debut on March 18 at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society at 1401 Howard Street. Presented by Sam Malouf Authentic Luxury, the runway show will feature Maison Rabih Kayrouz’s Fall 2020 Haute Couture collection that debuted on January 20 during Paris Fashion Week, in addition to a Fall 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection that will debut in early March. The runway show will also include retrospective pieces from Kayrouz’s 20-year career as a designer, totaling 30-40 looks on the runway. Photos from Maison Rabih Kayrouz’s Fall 2020 Haute Couture collection can be found here.

“It’s really the movement that inspires me,” Kayrouz told San Francisco Ballet. “People walking in the street, people dancing …. all the gestures, all the body movements are inspiring for me.” Kayrouz “[grants] his clothes the ability to dance in dramatic movement,” Vogue reported after the Paris debut of Kayrouz’s Fall 2020 Haute Couture collection last week. Alongside houses like Chanel and Dior, French-Lebanese Kayrouz is one of sixteen members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture—the Parisian protected class of Haute Couture—and frequently collaborates with Paris Opera Ballet. “Ballet and fashion, fashion and movement, and movement and ballet are undeniably linked,” says SF Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show Chair Rhonda Mahendroo. “It makes sense to combine these elements into a fundraiser. Maison Rabih Kayrouz exemplifies the interconnectivity of fashion, art, and life.”

Tickets begin at $500 for the fundraising event, which includes lunch and the runway show at Saint Joseph’s Art Society on March 18 at 11am. A trunk show will conclude the event, offering up for sale Maison Rabih Kayrouz fashions from the runway show. A VIP dinner with Kayrouz will be held on March 17, the evening before the main event. Proceeds from the event will benefit a wide range of San Francisco Ballet initiatives, including new works, scholarships for San Francisco Ballet School students, and community outreach programs.
