Born in San Francisco, Emma Rubinowitz received her training at City Ballet School and San Francisco Ballet School. Named an apprentice in 2011, she joined the Company in 2012.

Rubinowitz has danced featured and soloist roles in Tomasson’s Giselle (pas de cinq), Nutcracker (Ballerina Doll and Spanish), and Romeo & Juliet (Juliet’s Friends); Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Bridesmaids); Possokhov’s Firebird (Little Princesses); and Scarlett’s Hummingbird (soloist).

Her repertory also includes Tomasson’s Criss-Cross (Avison-Scarlatti movement) and The Fifth Season; Balanchine’s Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet (3rd movement), Coppélia, The Four Temperaments (Sanguinic corps), Scotch Symphony, Serenade, Symphony in Three Movements, and excerpts from Theme and Variations; Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” from La Bayadère, Act II; Nureyev’s Raymonda—Act III (Hungarian); Possokhov’s The Rite of Spring and Swimmer; Ratmansky’s Shostakovich Trilogy (Symphony #9 and Chamber Symphony); Robbins’ Glass Pieces; Thatcher’s Manifesto; and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Spring and Courtier).

Rubinowitz danced in the 2015 film of Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet (Juliet’s Friends) as part of the inaugural season of Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance.
