Named apprentice in 2013. Joined in 2014.
From Shanghai, China, Mingxuan Wang trained at Shanghai Dance School and San Francisco Ballet School, where he was in the Trainee Program for one year. He was named an apprentice in 2013 and joined the Company in 2014.
Wang has danced featured roles in Tomasson’s Giselle (pas de cinq), Nutcracker (Jack-in-the-Box, Chinese, center Russian, Spanish, and Arabian), and Romeo & Juliet (Acrobats); and Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Toreador). His repertory also includes Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Serenade, and excerpts from Theme and Variations (demi-soloist); Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; Possokhov’s Firebird and Swimmer; Ratmansky’s Shostakovich Trilogy (Symphony #9); Robbins’ Glass Pieces; Scarlett’s Hummingbird; Tomasson’s Caprice and The Fifth Season; and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Winter and Courtier).
Wang won junior 1st prize at the Seoul International Dance Competition in 2013 and was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition in 2012.
