Ami Yuki was born in Saitama, Japan, and trained at Kaneta Kono Ballet Academy, Canada’s National Ballet School, and San Francisco Ballet School, where she was in the Trainee Program for one year. She was named an apprentice in 2014 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in 2015.
Yuki has danced featured roles in Tomasson’s Nutcracker (French) and Romeo & Juliet (Lady Montague). Her repertory includes Tomasson’s Giselle (Peasants and Wilis); Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Seguidilla, Gypsies, Driads, Fandango); Balanchine’s Agon, The Four Temperaments (Phlegmatic corps), and Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet (4th movement); Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” from La Bayadère, Act II; Robbins’ Glass Pieces; and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Courtiers, Bird Lady, and Tree Gnomes). In student performances, she danced Myrtha in Giselle, Balanchine’s Raymonda Variations, and Petipa’s Paquita (principal) and Raymonda.
