Did you know that SF Ballet was the first company to present Nutcracker in America? Join us as we explore the magical story of Nutcracker at our Let’s Dance Family Workshop geared specifically for families with children ages 5-10. Follow Clara on her magical journey through the Land of Snow, to the garden of the Crystal Palace to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. Explore the joy and wonder of the story, choreography, music, and costumes of Nutcracker during our 60-minute interactive workshop that engages children and parents alike. Kids will learn excerpts from Tomasson’s Nutcracker with SF Ballet School faculty member “Miss Kristi” DeCaminada.

Our Nutcracker Let’s Dance Family Workshop is equally a perfect way to prepare your youngster to see Nutcracker for the first time or to delight kids who already know our production by heart.

Let’s Dance Family Workshops are recommended for families with children ages 5-10. Everyone needs a ticket, regardless of age. Tickets are $20 for children and adults, with a minimum purchase of 1 child and 1 adult ticket required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Performance tickets to Nutcracker are not required to participate in the Nutcracker Let’s Dance Family Workshop. Each child may only attend one Let’s Dance Family Workshop per day. Workshop participants will receive an email confirmation before the workshop with additional information. Paper and electronic tickets will not be issued for the workshops.

Children should wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement. Ballet shoes are not required. Children are welcome to wear their favorite ballet costume.

Ballet students ages 11-14 are invited to join us for a Nutcracker Master Class on Sunday, November 12, 2017. When you see SF Ballet’s beloved Nutcracker each December, all the children on stage are students at San Francisco Ballet School. Do you want to learn excerpts from the children’s roles? Join Children’s Ballet Masters Kristi DeCaminada and Jeff Lyons in the studio to learn some of the most well-known choreography from our production.
