Adult ballet classes at SF Ballet School offer a great workout, grounded in classical technique, led by Company and School faculty members who teach the same steps to SF Ballet dancers.

Drop-In Ballet Classes
January 8–May 9, 2018

Drop-in classes run like a traditional ballet class starting at the barre and then moving to the center through traditional class exercises and combinations. Be prepared to sweat (at least a little) and to have a good time. Anyone who is new to ballet should start with the beginner ballet series before attending drop-in classes.

Beginner Ballet Series I
January 20–March 17, 2018
Saturdays 2:30–4:00pm

The 8-session beginner series is for those who are new to ballet and those who feel like they would like to get a handle on the basics. Instruction will be broken down to the core elements and then built each week so that you'll finish feeling confident and excited to continue your training in drop-in classes.

NEW: Adult Repertory Class Series
January 19–March 9, 2018
Fridays 6:00–7:45pm

Interested in learning choreography from SF Ballet’s 2018 Repertory Season? Then join us for our Adult Repertory Class Series, an opportunity to get a taste of what the Company will be performing this year. In this eight-week adult ballet series, you’ll learn sections from four different ballets alongside a rotating cast of faculty and guest artists. Each class will last 1 hour and 45 minutes and will begin with a warm-up class followed by the repertory work.

This workshop is aimed at adults who regularly attend intermediate level ballet classes.

“An in-class experience allows you to enhance what you see on stage in the Opera House. Our students range in age and ability, from 16 years old to most in their late 60s and early 70s. Some of our students have never had a ballet class before, while other have had years of experience.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Who teaches the classes?

The following SF Ballet School faculty regularly teach the Adult Ballet classes: Tina LeBlanc, Jeff Lyons, Wendy Van Dyck, and Pascal Molat.

What if I’m not sure I will be able to complete the class?

We encourage you to attend and complete as much of the class as you feel capable of. If you need to sit out for the last combination or two, that’s just fine, you’re welcome to watch.

Can I watch a class before taking one?

Unfortunately we do not allow class observations. We encourage you to try it out and see if you like it. You’ll have a much better understanding of the class if you’re up and moving than by sitting and watching.

What happens if I’m late to class?

For the safety and consideration of all, studio doors will close five minutes after class begins.
