Behind the Proscenium: Megan Gulla on Romeo & Juliet

Preparing for the Stage

Our studios will soon be abuzz again with dancers, choreographers, and designers. We can’t wait to be reunited with all of our artists—including our Wardrobe, Hair, and Make-Up teams! In our new series, Behind the Proscenium, go behind the scenes to learn about how San Francisco Ballet prepares costumes, hair, and make-up for the stage.

In this first episode, Head of Women’s Wardrobe Megan Gulla guides you through her work and the journey of a ballet’s costumes, from alterations to quick changes to tour suitcases.

This series was filmed at SF Ballet’s warehouse in early 2021.
