A glimpse into the creative process

On World Ballet Day 2024, viewers got a sneak peek into the process and creative mind of choreographer Aszure Barton with a featured live stream of Mere Mortals. This ballet made its world premiere in San Francisco on January 26, 2024, and is the creative brainchild of Barton, composer Sam Shepherd (aka Floating Points), and a heavy-hitting creative team including experiential artists Hamill Industries, costume designer Michelle Jank, and dramaturg Carmen Kovacs.

Now, Mere Mortals returns to the stage next month—offering audiences another chance to experience this striking, collaborative work. Watch as Barton leads Company rehearsal, offering insight into the process and imagination behind it.
