Joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in 2018
Before joining San Francisco Ballet, Nicolai Gorodiskii danced principal or featured roles in Elo’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (soloist); Petipa’s Giselle (Peasant pas de deux); Petipa/Ivanov’s Nutcracker (Nutcracker Doll, Chinese, and Mirlitons); Petit’s L’Arlésienne (Frédéric); and Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Knave of Hearts). His repertory includes Ekman’s Episode 31 and Saint-Léon’s Coppélia (Friends).
Nicolai has guested extensively. In 2017 he was a guest of honor at a gala in Campeche, Mexico, and danced Nutcracker in Greenville, North Carolina. In 2016, he danced Nutcracker at Mid-Columbia Ballet in Richland, Washington, and with Ballet Hawaii in Honolulu; performed at the closing gala at the Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria; danced Paquita with National Ballet of Uruguay/Sodre in Montevideo, Uruguay; and danced The Sleeping Beauty with Ana Sophia Scheller at Syracuse City Ballet in New York. In 2015, he performed in Córdoba, Mexico; with Pennsylvania Ballet at a Festival of Families performance for Pope Francis; and at galas in Argentina, Dominican Republic, Italy, Russia, and Slovenia. In 2014, he performed at galas in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Salzburg, Austria, and he danced at Opernball in Vienna, Austria, in 2011 and 2012.
Among Nicolai’s awards are the bronze medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition and the gold medal at a ballet competition in Croatia in 2014; the Grand Prix at Italy’s Levante Dance Festival and the bronze medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 2013; and the gold medal at the International Ballet Competition in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2012.
