Blake Kessler has danced featured roles in Tomasson’s Nutcracker (Jack-in-the-Box, Chinese, Russian, and Bear) and Swan Lake (Aristocrats and Czardas). His repertory includes Balanchine’s Coppélia (Dolls and Grooms), Diamonds, Prodigal Son, Rubies, and Stravinsky Violin Concerto; Cranko’s Onegin; Peck’s In the Countenance of Kings; Possokhov’s Optimistic Tragedy (Sailors) and Swimmer; Scarlett’s Fearful Symmetries and Frankenstein; and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Autumn corps, Tree Gnomes, and Courtiers). He created a corps de ballet role in Bubeníček’s Fragile Vessels.
Blake performed in Giselle and Nutcracker with Orlando Ballet. At the 2014 USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi, he was awarded a full scholarship to the San Francisco Ballet School Summer Program with continuation into the Trainee Program.
What’s your biggest challenge as a dancer. Why?
Finding the motivation to work hard when you’re having a bad day and nothing’s going your way.

Getting to do Fearful Symmetries as an apprentice.
