Taras Domitro has danced such major roles as Albrecht in Tomasson’s Giselle, Nutcracker Prince and King of the Snow in Tomasson’s Nutcracker; Mercutio in Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet; Prince Siegfried in Tomasson’s Swan Lake; Basilio in Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote; Franz in Balanchine’s Coppélia; Lensky in Cranko’s Onegin; the title role in Fokine’s Petrouchka; Solor in Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” from La Bayadère, Act II; Brown in Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering; and Benjamin in Wheeldon’s Cinderella. He created principal roles in Possokhov’s Francesca da Rimini (Giovanni) and Swimmer (The Swimmer).
His repertory includes Balanchine’s Emeralds, The Four Temperaments, Rubies, Scotch Symphony, Symphony in C, and Theme and Variations; Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; McGregor’s Chroma; Nureyev’s Raymonda—Act III; Ratmansky’s Russian Seasons and Shostakovich Trilogy; Robbins’ Opus 19/The Dreamer; Tomasson’s 7 for Eight, Caprice, Criss-Cross, On a Theme of Paganini, Prism, Le Quattro Stagioni, and Trio; Vaganova’s Diana and Acteon Pas de Deux; Vainonen’s Flames of Paris Pas de Deux; and Zanella’s Alles Walzer and Underskin.
Taras performed at the World Ballet Competition Gala in Orlando, Florida, in 2009; at Gran Festival del Querétaro in 2008; with Balletto dell’Opera di Roma in 2007; and at the Alicia Alonso Foundation Gala in Madrid in 2006.He received a 2008 Gold Medal at the World International Ballet Competition in Orlando, Florida, the grand prix at Peru’s International Ballet Festival in 2003, and 1st prize and the Revelation Award at Concurso de Festival Internacional de Academias in Havana, Cuba, in 2000.
