Davit Karapetyan has danced major roles in Tomasson’s Giselle (Albrecht), Nutcracker (Nutcracker Prince), Romeo & Juliet (Romeo), The Sleeping Beauty (Prince Desiré), and Swan Lake (Prince Siegfried); Tomasson/Posskhov’s Don Quixote (Basilio); Cranko’s Onegin (Onegin); Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid (Sea Witch); and Wheeldon’s Cinderella (Prince Gillaume), among others. He created principal roles in Tomasson’s Caprice, On a Theme of Paganini, and On Common Ground.
His repertory includes Ashton’s Voices of Spring; Balanchine’s Agon, Allegro Brillante, Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet, Diamonds, Divertimento No. 15, The Four Temperaments, Rubies, Scotch Symphony, Serenade, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Symphony in C, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, and Theme and Variations; Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House; Forsythe’s in the middle, somewhat elevated; Gsovsky’s Grand Pas Classique; Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” La Bayadère, Act II; van Manen’s Variations for Two Couples; Nureyev’s Raymonda—Act III; Possokhov’s Magrittomania and Reflections; Ratmansky’s Russian Seasons, Seven Sonatas, and Shostakovich Trilogy; Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, Fancy Free, Other Dances, and West Side Story Suite; Scarlett’s Fearful Symmetries; Tomasson’s 7 for Eight, Chi-Lin, Chaconne for Piano and Two Dancers, The Fifth Season, and Trio; and Tudor’s Jardin aux Lilas.
Davit’s 2015 film, Meran vor Aprink, won a 2016 Emmy Award. Davit won Best Couple with Vanessa Zahorian at the 2006 USA International Ballet Competition and was a prizewinner at the 1999 Prix de Lausanne. He danced Romeo in the 2015 film of Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet and Nutcracker Prince in Tomasson’s Nutcracker on PBS’ Great Performances.
