Sofiane Sylve has danced full-length principal roles in Tomasson’s Giselle (Myrtha), Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy and Grand Pas de Deux Ballerina), Romeo & Juliet (Lady Capulet); and Swan Lake (Odette/Odile); Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Mercedes); and Balanchine’s Coppélia (Prayer). She created principal roles in Bubeníček’s Fragile Vessels, Dawson’s Anima Animus, Forsythe’s Pas/Parts 2016, King’s The Collective Agreement, Liang’s The Infinite Ocean and Symphonic Dances, McGregor’s Borderlands, Ratmansky’s From Foreign Lands, Scarlett’s Fearful Symmetries, Wheeldon’s Ghosts, and Zanella’s Underskin, among others.
Her repertory includes principal roles in Balanchine’s Agon, Diamonds, Emeralds,The Four Temperaments, Prodigal Son, Rubies, Serenade, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, and Symphony in C; Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House; Forsythe’s Artifact Suite, in the middle, somewhat elevated, and The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude; Lifar’s Suite en Blanc; MacMillan’s Winter Dreams; van Manen’s Two Pieces for Het (For Rachel) and Variations for Two Couples; McGregor’s Chroma and Eden/Eden; Peck’s Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes; Possokhov’s Swimmer; Ratmansky’s Russian Seasons, Seven Sonatas, and Shostakovich Trilogy; Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, Glass Pieces, and In the Night; Tomasson’s The Fifth Season and Prism; Tudor’s Jardin aux Lilas; and Wheeldon’s Continuum.
Sofiane danced Lady Capulet in the 2015 film of Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet (Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance). She performed at the Premio Danza&Danza Gala in Italy, Chicago Dancing Festival, The Australian Ballet’s 50th Anniversary Gala, and Dutch National Ballet’s 50th anniversary. A principal guest faculty member at San Francisco Ballet School, she served as teacher/coach at the Indianapolis International Ballet Competition in 2015.
