Program 5: Three-Act/Full-Evening – West Coast premiere!
Alexei Ratmansky/Co-production with American Ballet Theatre
SF Ballet embarks on an unprecedented artistic journey with American Ballet Theatre and their artist-in-residence, Alexei Ratmansky to present Shostakovich Trilogy, a daring new full-evening work that the New York Times called, “fascinating, poetic, enigmatic and bittersweet” when it premiered at ABT on May 31st of this year. The Times went on to describe this extraordinary non-narrative ballet as showing “overlapping expressions of ebullience, struggle, heroism, community, affection, wit, brilliance and inspiration—but also of fear, vigilance, alarm, apprehension and grief.”
