Program 3: Triple-Bill

Total running time: 2 hours 25 minutes, two intermissions

Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird, one of the Company’s most popular ballets, returns! Set to Stravinsky’s soaring score, the San Francisco Examiner called Firebird “robust, imaginative, vastly entertaining… with an impact that had the audience cheering raucously in the aisles.” The program also includes Christopher Wheeldon’s Ghosts ©, which recently wowed London fans and critics. The London Independent said, “Ghosts is original and astonishingly atmospheric… utterly gripping.” The program concludes with the spellbinding classic, The Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadère, Act II. A ballet of extraordinary poetic beauty, this large-scale work with a cast of over 30 dancers was originally set on SF Ballet by the legendary ballerina Natalia Makarova.
