Admission to San Francisco Ballet School is by audition only. Every January and February, the School holds a National Audition Tour. Auditions are open to male and female students, ages 14-18, who have achieved intermediate or advanced levels of ballet training. Intermediate/Advanced students seeking admittance to the year-round program are encouraged to audition for and attend the Summer Session. For information on auditioning in Europe, click here.

San Francisco Bay Area students ages 12-13, who do not require housing, are invited to audition in San Francisco ONLY.*

Please arrive at least one hour prior to the audition time for registration.  For directions to a particular audition site, please contact the school directly. The audition is similar to a typical ballet class. Girls should be prepared to dance on pointe. Girls 15 and older will be required to be on pointe for the entire audition.

What to Bring:
• A passport-sized headshot
• A $35.00 audition fee (cash or money order only, please)

Applicants will be notified of audition results via e-mail within two weeks of their audition. Students who are accepted will receive instructions for securing their place in the program.

DVD Auditions

Live auditions are preferred; however, students who live outside a 250-mile radius of any audition tour city may audition by DVD. Complete DVD audition materials must be received by February 17 in order to be considered. Please fill out the downloadable DVD Audition Form (190KB pdf) to be mailed along with your audition materials and the $50.00 application fee (credit card or money order only). All DVD audition applicants will be notified of audition results after March 1, 2012.
