Dance in Schools and Communities Manager
Stacey Blakeman has been working as an artist educator for the past 15 years. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she trained in several areas of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, musical theater, and contemporary. After receiving her BA in Humanities from the University of Louisville, Ms. Blakeman worked as an elementary educator in Cambridge, MA. Now living in San Francisco, she is able to combine her love for teaching children and dance through her work as Manager of the Dance in Schools and Communities program (DISC) for the San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education. Working as both a teaching artist in primary schools and an arts administrator, she develops curriculum and conducts professional development workshops for SF Ballet throughout the Bay Area. Ms. Blakeman strongly believes in the power of arts education and strives to help better the lives of children through her work. She is currently working towards a Masters in Education in the Integrated Teaching Through the Arts program at Lesley University.
