SAN FRANCISCO BALLET ANNOUNCES NEW COMPANY MEMBERS FOR 2010 REPERTORY SEASON
 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Tuesday, May 12, 2009-San Francisco Ballet has announced the addition of two new dancers for the 2010 Repertory Season. Vitor Luiz joins the Company as a principal dancer. In addition, Rebecca Rhodes, an apprentice during the 2009 Repertory Season, joins the ranks of the corps de ballet. A complete and updated announcement and Company roster will be distributed at the start of the 2010 rehearsal period in July 2009.
 
New Company Members
Born in Juiz de Fora, Brazil, Vitor Luiz began his training with Victor Navarro and Dalal Achcar, as well as Pedro Kraszczuck. At the age of seventeen he was accepted at the Royal Ballet School and he began his professional career with Birmingham Royal Ballet. In addition to numerous international guest appearances, Luiz most recently performed as a principal dancer with Ballet do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. He has performed lead roles in a variety of works, including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Le Corsaire.
 
Rebecca Rhodes was born in Chicago, Illinois, and trained at Dance Academy of Libertyville and Milwaukee Ballet School. She completed her training at the San Francisco Ballet School, where she was a member of the Trainee Program for the 2007-2008 school year. As an apprentice during the fall 2008 American Tour and 2009 Repertory Season, Rhodes performed a variety of works with the Company, including George Balanchine's "Emeralds" and "Diamonds," as well as Helgi Tomasson's productions of Nutcracker, Giselle, and Swan Lake.
 
New Apprentices
Helgi Tomasson has named six new apprentices for the 2010 season: Kimberly Braylock, Madison Keesler, Kristina Lind, Steven Morse, Myles Thatcher, and Sylvie Volosov. As apprentices, these dancers will take Company class and perform corps de ballet roles in the Company's diverse repertory. Notably, five of the newly appointed apprentices were members of the SF Ballet School Trainee Program.
 
Born in Rutherford, New Jersey, Kimberly Braylock trained at Studio Maestro and the San Francisco Ballet School, most recently participating in the School's Trainee Program. Madison Keesler hails from Oceanside, California and trained at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School. Keesler was an apprentice for the Hamburg Ballet for the 2008-2009 Season. Kristina Lind was born in San Jose, California and trained at Dance Theatre International and the San Francisco Ballet School, where she has been a member of the Trainee Program for the past two years. Born in Harbor City, California, Steven Morse trained at Maple Conservatory prior to joining the SF Ballet School Trainee Program for the 2008-09 school year. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Myles Thatcher, began his training at Ellison Ballet before completing his training with San Francisco Ballet School's Trainee Program. Also a member of the Trainee Program for two years, Sylvie Volosov was born in Brooklyn, New York, and trained at the School of American Ballet in addition to San Francisco Ballet School.
