Family Connections Workshops welcome the whole family to learn more about dance and San Francisco Ballet through free or low-cost creative, interactive dance workshops. For first-time attendees and seasoned viewers, Family Connections offers children, youths, and their adult guardians the chance to interact together. Each workshop has unique content and movements inspired by a ballet in our current repertory.
The San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education collaborates with community organizations and our public library to bring you these workshops. Workshops are presented in various locations throughout the community. When possible, participants receive a free ticket to a performance by San Francisco Ballet at the War Memorial Opera House. By exploring movement and music designed to inspire our creativity, these workshops empower the child in all of us.
In addition to this rich mix, San Francisco Ballet offers unique movement workshops based on classical ballet technique. These classes are specifically designed for adults to experience the joy of movement along with their children (ages 6-13). Movements are inspired by a ballet within San Francisco Ballet's current repertory. Movement Workshops are complimented by interactive discussions, slide and/or video presentations followed by a question-and-answer period.
