Performance Project
The Performance Project, a program of the San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education, takes the concept of Dance in Schools and Communities (DISC) to a new level. Select students of the DISC Residency Program are invited to participate in this fun and exciting project. Children have the opportunity to work with a professional dance artist or musician from the DISC staff for approximately 15 rehearsal sessions. During this multi-week performance project, children experience the process of the learning and making of a dance or musical presentation. It is both a challenging and an esteem-building experience.
The goal of the project is not to make children "professional" dancers/performers, but rather to instill in them the knowledge and experience of the creative process of performing, and give them an opportunity to share what they have learned with others. This program is free of charge to all students.
