About the Community Circle Dance Camp
Community Circle Dance Camp (CCDC) is an exciting day-camp adventure that provides urban youth with a weeklong experience in dance, music, and visual art. CCDC is for boys and girls ages 7-14, and no previous dance experience is necessary. The staff of CCDC includes specially trained community-based teaching artists from throughout the Bay Area, and is augmented by collaborations with several community partners. The San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education believes in the power of positive regard and embraces the dancer in everyone.
A typical day for a CCDC participant consists of four dance classes, one music class, and a visual art class. Each day begins at 10am and concludes at 4pm. Early-morning drop-off is available at 8:45am and late-afternoon pickup is available until 5pm at no additional cost. Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided for campers. CCDC emphasizes the importance of good nutrition with its students, since a healthy diet is imperative to maintain a strong, fit body.
The one-week camp includes a mid-week field trip to see the arts district in the heart of the Civic Center. A special community celebration marks the end of the camp where students demonstrate to friends and family their learning and experience in the arts.
