Excerpts from Serenade and Company B

Set to the big-band era songs of The Andrew Sisters, Company B illuminates dominant social issues and the uplifting and sorrowful emotions that surround them. Serenade, a large-scale work of 28 dancers, is the first original ballet that George Balanchine created in America. Recommended for grades 2 and higher.

Petrouchka and excerpts from in the middle, somewhat elevated

Making its SF Ballet premiere this season, Michel Fokine’s Petrouchka is a tragic classical tale of a Russian puppet come to life that fuses music, ballet, and history in perfect balance. William Forsythe’s dynamic in the middle, somewhat elevated investigates ballet’s standard vocabulary, redefining its boundaries along the way. Recommended for grades 5 and higher
