Set to Camille Saint-Saëns beloved score, Alexei Ratmansky’s delightful Le Carnaval des Animaux (Carnival of the Animals) brings a whimsical menagerie of animals to life. The program also features a world premiere work by San Francisco Ballet Choreographer in Residence Yuri Possokhov, and the return of Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson’s elegant Trio, set to Tchaikovsky’s
string sextet “Souvenir de Florence.”

Romeo & Juliet
One of San Francisco Ballet’s most critically acclaimed productions, Tomasson’s classic Romeo & Juliet returns to the Opera House stage. Set to Sergei Prokofiev’s famous score and based on the timeless masterpiece by William Shakespeare, this lavish full-length work showcases beautiful dance, riveting battles, and compelling drama, all set against the splendor of Renaissance Italy.

Balanchine Masterworks
Divertimento No. 15 | Scotch Symphony | The Four Temperaments
Helgi Tomasson pays homage to San Francisco Ballet’s 60th year of performing the works of choreographic legend George Balanchine. The program opens with Divertimento No. 15, set to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, followed by the revival of Scotch Symphony, marking the first time this ballet has been performed by the Company in more than 40 years. The program concludes with Balanchine’s neoclassical masterpiece The Four Temperaments, a large-scale work for 25 dancers,
set to music by Paul Hindemith.
