Joined in 2001. Promoted to Soloist in 2005.

Born in Chiba, Japan, Hansuke Yamamoto trained at Akira Egawa Ballet School, Yuriko Kawaguchi Ballet School, and The Royal Ballet School. He danced with The National Ballet of Canada before joining San Francisco Ballet in 2001, and was promoted to soloist in 2005. Yamamoto has danced roles including the pas de cinq in Tomasson’s Giselle; Bluebird in Tomasson’s The Sleeping Beauty; Gypsy King in Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote; pas de trios, Neopolitan, Russian, and Aristocrat in Tomasson’s Swan Lake; Benvolio in Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet; and Snow King, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese in Tomasson’s Nutcracker. His repertory also includes lead roles in Ashton’s Monotones I and Symphonic Variations; Bintley’s The Dance House; Makarova’s Paquita; Morris’ Joyride and Sandpaper Ballet; Possokhov’s Fusion and Reflections; Ratmansky's Le Carnaval des Animaux and Russian Seasons; Tomasson’ s Chi-Lin, Prism, Le Quattro Stagioni, and On a Theme of Paganini; and Welch’s Tu Tu and Naked.
