Pascal Molat

Born: Paris, France

Joined as a Soloist in 2002. Promoted to Principal Dancer in 2003.

A native of Paris, France, Pascal Molat trained at Paris Opéra Ballet School and danced with Royal Ballet of Flanders and Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo before joining San Francisco Ballet as a soloist in 2002. He was promoted to principal dancer the following year. Molat has performed featured roles in many of the full-length classics including Aminta in Morris’ Sylvia, Mercutio in Tomasson’s Romeo & Juliet, the pas de trois in Tomasson’s Swan Lake, Sancho Panza in Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote, and the Snow King in Tomasson’s Nutcracker. He has created many roles in works such as Elo’s Double Evil; Morris’ Joyride; Possokhov’s Study in Motion, Reflections, and Firebird; Welch’s Falling and Naked; and Tomasson’s Concerto Grosso, Blue Rose, and On a Theme of Paganini, among others. Molat’s repertory also includes works such as Ashton’s Symphonic Variations; Balanchine’s Ballo Della Regina, Symphony in C, The Four Temperaments, “Emeralds”, and “Rubies”; Bintley’s The Dance House; Caniparoli’s Lambarena; Forsythe’s Artifact Suite and in the middle, somewhat elevated; Garnier’s Aunis; MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations; McGregor’s Eden/Eden; Ratmansky’s Russian Seasons; Robbin’s Dybbuk, Fancy Free, Dances at a Gathering, and The Concert; Taylor’s Company B and Spring Rounds; and Tudor’s Jardin aux Lilas. Molat received the gold medal and a special jury’s prize at the International Mediterranean Competition in 1994. He has been a guest artist with various companies, and has performed at a number of galas and festivals.
