Lorena Feijoo

Born: Havana, Cuba
Joined as a Principal Dancer in 1999.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Lorena Feijoo trained at the National Ballet School of Cuba. She began her career at Ballet Nacional de Cuba, and danced with Ballet of Monterrey, Royal Ballet of Flanders, and the Joffrey Ballet prior to joining San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer in 1999. She has danced lead roles in works such as Tomasson’s Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Swan Lake, and Nutcracker; as well as Kitri in Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote. She created roles in Tomasson’ Blue Rose; Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House; Possokhov’s Study in Motion, Reflections, Fusion, and Diving into the Lilacs; Wheeldon’s Quaternary; and Ratmansky’s Le Carnaval des Animaux. Her repertory includes Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Ballo della Regina, Symphony in C, The Four Temperaments, Apollo, Theme and Variations, and “Emeralds”; Caniparoli’s No Other and Lambarena; Forsythe’s Artifact Suite and in the middle, somewhat elevated; Lubovitch’s Othello and “. . . smile with my heart”; Makarova’s Paquita; Morris’ Sandpaper Ballet and Pacific; Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, In the Night, and West Side Story Suite; Tomasson’s Chaconne for Piano and Two Dancers and Confidencias; and Tudor’s Jardin aux Lilas. Feijoo received the Isadora Duncan Dance Award for ensemble performance in 2003. She has guested with companies including The Royal Ballet, and has performed at numerous galas and benefits.
